I love to have a weekend mini vacation. This last weekend I found a Pond Tour and went on an incredible weekend adventure. I look for fun weekend activities to go on all year.   I like to write down all the destinations that would be great to visit that are within two hours of where I live. As I visit with friends and family I always ask them what event they have gone to that would make a great adventure.

In Utah a wonderful weekend outing that I go on in the fall is a leaf trip. On Labor Day weekend, one of the biggest attractions in Utah is the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival.   This is a world-class event that people come to from all over the United States. My brother just called me and said, that they are going on a mini vacation to Hersey Park in Penn. Wherever you live there, are amazing events year round.

Destination Game

Try this easy way to decide the destinations and activities for your weekend excursions. Spend an evening with family or friends pinpointing nearby places you want to visit and activities you want to try. Write each excursion or activity on a separate slip of paper and place the slips in a bowl or box. When you have a free day, draw a paper from the bowl or box and head out for some travel fun.

Weekend Instant Vacation Box

This box contains all of the equipment and supplies you will need for a instant vacation. Keep the box in a handy place ready to grab and take when you find a free day to fill with memories. You might fill your box with such items as:

  • Personal items such as tooth brush, toothpaste, and soap. Include a washcloth in a self-sealing bag or take some wet wipes for the quick clean up. You may want to put in the box and extra set of clothes and then you will be ready.
  • Towels, bathing suits, and swimming gear etc.
  • Sporting equipment such as a softball and bat, frisbee, and a football.
  • Camera
  • Paper plates, cups, napkins, and table cloth along with plastic eating utensils.
  • Pillow and blanket or sleeping bags if you will plan to camp out.
  • Food: Put condiments that you might need with a two-day set of menus and a shopping list so all you have to do is stop at the store and load up the cooler with ice.
  • Basic cooking equipment with a little gas canister stove if you plan to cook along the way.

Dian’s Holiday Fun book will give you event to do on weekends through out the year.

Enjoy!!!!!
