Are you looking for some ideas to add that creative touch to your Thanksgiving table? Here are some of my favorite ideas that will not only enhance your table but will bring a special touch to this holiday feast.
Turkey Turkey Sandwich
Use your leftover turkey in a turkey sandwich. It is a clever way to make a sandwich look like a turkey. Take a dinner roll and slice it in half. Make your turkey sandwich as usual and then cut a turkey head out of cheese and stick it on the front of the roll with toothpicks. Make the tail with skewers containing cheese cubes, olives and cherry tomatoes and stick them in the back of the roll. There you have it!
Turkey Pumpkin Centerpiece
Thaw frozen roll dough and roll 2 together, 1/4-inch thick. Form into breadsticks of various lengths. Make grooves for feathers. Brush with oil and let rise. Sprinkle with seasoning salt or Salad Supreme Seasoning before baking. Carve a turkey head from a yam. Add raisin eyes and an apple beak and wattle. Attach the breadstick feathers and the head to a pumpkin using bamboo skewers.
Unstuff the Turkey Instantly
• Unstuffing the turkey is a cinch using this technique. The key is a cheesecloth bag that holds the stuffing inside the turkey.
• To make the bag, cut a piece of cheesecloth large enough to cover the inside of the turkey cavity, with several inches left over. Stitch along two sides of the cloth to form a bag. Tuck the bag into the turkey with the unstitched edges hanging outside the opening.
• Spoon the dressing into the bag until the cavity is loosely filled. Fold the bag closed and tuck the edges up into the cavity. Secure the bag by folding the drumsticks under a wire holder or the thick skin that holds the legs together.
• After the turkey is cooked, open the stuffing bag and spoon out enough dressing to allow you to grasp the edges of the bag. Pull the bag out of the turkey, dressing and all!
Dressing Ring with Cranberry Relish
Often times when you are going to have a large family Thanksgiving dinner, you will want to make extra dressing to cook alongside your turkey or bake the next day to serve with leftovers. Press the dressing into a heavily greased ring-shaped mold or bundt pan and bake at 350 degrees F. for 45 minutes to one hour, until the dressing turns a light golden brown. Invert the dressing onto a platter. Fill the center ring with cranberry relish and garnish with carrot curls. Serve it for your dinner or with leftover turkey and gravy.
