An Easter Egg Tree is a beautiful way to decorate for spring and Easter. This charming centerpiece combines natural branches, pastel flowers, and adorable hatching chick and bunny ornaments to create a display that delights children and adults alike.

It’s perfect for tabletops, entryways, or Easter gatherings — and it doubles as a fun family craft project.

Supplies for the Easter Egg Tree

  • A tree limb with many smaller branches

  • Spray paint (optional)

  • Plaster of Paris

  • Basket with plastic liner (large enough to hold the branch)

  • Easter grass

  • Tiny silk flowers

  • Glue gun

How to Make an Easter Egg Tree

  1. Prepare the Branch
Spray paint the branch if desired and allow it to dry completely.

  2. Secure the Tree
Mix Plaster of Paris in the plastic liner according to package directions. Insert the tree branch into the plaster and allow it to harden fully.

  3. Assemble the Base
Place the plastic liner inside the basket and cover the hardened plaster with Easter grass.

  4. Decorate the Tree
Attach tiny silk flowers to the branches using a glue gun.

  5. Add Ornaments
Hang the Hatching Chick and Bunny Ornaments on the branches.

Bunny Ornament Supplies

  • 6 raw eggs

  • 12 pink pom-poms (2″, for heads and bodies)

  • 12 wiggly craft eyes (⅛”–¼”)

  • Pink felt (bunny ears)

  • White felt (smaller, for inner ears)

  • 1 yard narrow pink ribbon, cut into six 5″ strips

  • 12 light pink pom-poms (¼”, cheeks)

  • 6 white pom-poms (⅛”, noses)

  • Glue gun

How to Make the Ornaments

  1. Prepare the Eggshells
Cup an egg in your hand and tap firmly with a knife to crack the shell. Break the egg in half. Wash both halves thoroughly and allow them to dry completely.

  2. Create the Hanger
Glue the ends of a ribbon inside the larger half of the eggshell on opposite sides to form a handle.

  3. Make the Head and Body
Glue two pom-poms together to form the head and body. Attach the craft eyes.

  4. Add Details

    • Chicks: Glue felt beaks to the face

    • Bunnies:

      • Glue two small pink pom-poms side by side for cheeks

      • Glue a small white pom-pom between the cheeks

      • Glue smaller white felt ears onto larger pink felt ears, then attach to the head

  5. Assemble the Ornament
Place the completed chick or bunny into the larger eggshell half.
Glue the smaller half of the eggshell onto the head so it looks like the animal is hatching.
