Spring is here, and it is time to think of flowers and seeds and planting. Flowers are often associated with sweetness, purity and endurance — qualities often linked with mothers. These garden gloves could be gifts or decorations, and they’re fun to make.

Mom’s Garden Glove

    1 garden glove
Heavy cardboard (3 inches by 5 inches)
    Acrylic paints or permanent markers
    Cotton batting
Heavy black wire (24-inch length), also called baling wire
    1 ( 1/4-inch) dowel or pencil
    Packets of vegetable seeds
    Small stuffed animals
    Small clay pot
    Silk flowers
    Silk greens
    Spanish moss
    Dried flowers
1 yard (1 inch to 2 inches wide) ribbon
    Raffia
    Glue gun
    Wire cutters

• Lightly sketch “I Love My Garden,” or “Welcome To My Garden” on the front of the glove in pencil. Paint with acrylics or markers.
• Allowing the cardboard to extend 1 inch above the wrist of the glove, glue one side of the cardboard to the back inside of the glove.
• Arrange other items attractively coming out of the glove, and hot glue in place. The seed packets will be glued to the exposed cardboard. Fill in any bare spots with Spanish moss. Tie raffia or ribbon around the wristband.
