I caught Jazz fever early this year. My favorite game activity is to gather with friends, have some fun party favors and cheer the Jazz to victory. No Jazz party is complete without some great food, right? Well, here are some fun ideas that will keep your crowd cheering no matter what the game score is.
Pickle Rolls: A Crunchy, Creamy Delight
6 large dill pickles
6 unsliced submarine buns
1 (8-ounce) package of lite cream cheese, softened
Lay pickles and rolls side-by-side and trim ends off rolls to make them the same length as the pickles. Then with a serrated knife, cut out the center of the roll slightly larger than the width of the pickle. Spread cream cheese on all sides of the hole inside the roll and slide in the pickle. Cut 1/2-inch slices along the roll. Makes 25 to 30 pickle roll appetizers.
Party Onions: A Cheesy, Tangy Treat
1 Tablespoon milk
1 (3-ounce) package of cream cheese
1 bunch (8 to 12) small green onions
1 1/2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese, at room temp-er-a-ture
Blend milk into cream cheese in a small bowl; set aside. Wash and trim onions. Spread white onions bulbs with cream cheese mixture. Roll coated bulbs in Cheddar cheese. Serves 4 to 6.
Ham Roll-Ups: A Savory Classic
1 (8-ounce) package of ham, sliced
1 (8-ounce) package of cream cheese, softened
1 bunch green onions
Spread cream cheese on slices of ham. Lay green onions along the edge of ham. Roll. Chill until cream cheese is firm, then slice. Serves 4 to 6.
