With Valentine’s Day coming, we all turn to making some-one we love feel special with a heart-shaped message. My favorites are Heart-Shaped Cup-cakes, a Heart Cake and Heart Shaped Edibles.
Heart-Shaped Cupcakes
• Cake batter
• Paper baking cups
• Marbles or aluminum foil
How to Make Heart-Shaped Cupcakes
- Prepare the Muffin Pan
- Line muffin pans with paper baking cups.
- Fill each cup halfway with cake batter.
- Place a marble or small ball of aluminum foil between the paper liner and the pan to create the heart shape.
- If the cups aren’t 2/3 full, add a little more batter.
- Bake and Decorate
- Bake as usual and allow cupcakes to cool.
- Frost with your favorite icing and pipe decorative frosting around the edge to define the heart shape.
- Decorate with Valentine candies.
Heart Cake
Make a heart-shaped cake without purchasing a special pan.
1 cake mix
1 – 9” round cake pan
1 – 9” square baking pan
1 recipe for white frosting

How to Make a Heart Cake Without a Special Pan

Bake the Cake
- Prepare the cake mix according to the package directions.
- Pour the batter into greased and floured 9-inch round and square cake pans.
- Bake as instructed and let the cakes cool for 10 minutes.

Assemble the Heart Cake
- Place the square cake on the serving dish in a diamond shape.
- Cut the round cake in half and place each half with the cut side next to the square to form a heart shape.
- Frost the cake with white icing, and pipe a border around the outer edge to hold the filling.
- Top with cherry pie filling.

- Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut hearts from foods like biscuit dough or jelled gelatin.
- For pancakes, place a heart-shaped cookie cutter on the griddle, and pour pancake batter into it.
