Homemade Plum Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 cup simple syrup (Simple Syrup Recipe)

  • 4 red plums, stones removed

  • Juice from 1/2 lemon

  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Cooking Steps

    Bring the simple syrup to a boil in a saucepan.

    Add chopped plums, lemon juice, and cinnamon (if using).

    Simmer until plums are soft (about 10–15 minutes).

    Puree the mixture until smooth.

    Cool and store in the refrigerator. Keeps up to 3 weeks. Yields ~2 cups.

Serving Ideas:

  • Grilled Pork Chops: Spoon warm plum sauce over the top and finish with a dash of black pepper.

  • Chicken Dinner Upgrade: Marinate chicken in vinaigrette dressing (page 83), grill to perfection, then drizzle with plum sauce for a restaurant-style plate.

  • Dessert Twist: Serve over pound cake, cheesecake, or ice cream for a fruity, tangy finish.
