Cooking Steps

  • 1

Prep the Oranges: Slice the top quarter off each orange. Use a grapefruit or paring knife to cut around the inside of each orange shell. Carefully scoop out the pulp and set it aside (you can save the pulp to make fresh orange juice later).

  • 2

Chill the Shells: Place the hollowed orange shells in the refrigerator to chill until ready to use.

  • 3

Assemble the Floats: Right before serving, place a scoop of orange sherbet into each orange shell.

  • 4

Add the Fizz: Pour orange soda over the sherbet until it fizzes up to the top.

  • 5

Serve Immediately: Add a straw and enjoy!

  • 6

    Serves 12.

How to Use It:

  • 1

Flavor Twist: Swap orange sherbet for pineapple or raspberry for a flavor twist.

  • 2

Creamy Version: Use vanilla ice cream instead of sherbet for a classic creamsicle vibe.

  • 3

Garnish: Add a sprig of mint or a slice of orange on top for a classy touch.

  • 4

Make Ahead: Prep the orange shells in advance and store them in the fridge until ready to fill.
