Washington’s Cherry Tarts
Materials Needed:
- Standard pie crust recipe (enough for small tart crusts)
- Foil tart pans
- Fork (for pricking the crusts)
- Heavy paper (for hatchet pattern)
- Cherry pie filling
- Baking instructions for pie crust
Instructions:

Prepare the Crusts:
Use your standard pie crust recipe to make small crusts in foil pans. Prick them with a fork to prevent puffing during baking. -
Cut Out the Hatchets:
Draw a pattern of small hatchets on heavy paper and cut them out. Bake the crusts according to the recipe, and bake the pie-crust hatchets on a separate baking sheet. -
Assemble the Tarts:
Once the crusts are baked and cooled, fill them with cherry pie filling. Place one of the pie-crust hatchets on top of each tart as decoration.
