Although August has no major holidays, as with every other month, you can find a reason to celebrate with good food and friends. You can always invent your own holidays. Turn your imagination loose and it will be easy to find reasons to revel. Here is a great dessert idea that is sure to cool you off as you feast on your favorite fruit.

Ingredients for Fruit Pizza
Here’s what you’ll need to create this vibrant summer dessert:
For the Crust:
• 1 (15-ounce) package sugar-cookie mix
For the Creamy Topping:
• 1 (8-ounce) package low-fat cream cheese
• 2 tbsp sour cream or yogurt
• 2 tbsp powdered sugar
• 1 tsp grated lemon rind
• 1 tbsp lemon juice
For the Fruit Topping (Choose Your Favorites!):
• Pineapple chunks (fresh or canned)
• Bananas
• Fresh orange slices
• Canned mandarin oranges
• Fresh strawberries
• Cherry pie filling
• Kiwi fruit
• Grapes
• Peach or apricot slices
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Prepare the cookie dough according to package directions. Lightly grease a 12-inch pizza pan. Press cookie dough into the pizza pan, about 1/8 inch think, and decoratively crimp the edges. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until the edges begin to brown. Cool on a rack.
Combine the cream cheese, sour cream or yogurt, powdered sugar, lemon rind and lemon juice and spread over the crust.
Arrange fruit atop pizza.
